“Textured and Micro Embossing dies are an excellent, cost effective alternative to expensive decorative foils”
Textured and Micro Embossing dies feature textures/patterns which are engraved into the surface of the die. This creates an additional effect in the foiled finish, enhancing the finish even further. This can be used in a number of ways to add extra definition to either labels, brochures, cards and packaging or even as an extra security detail. These Textured and Micro embossing dies can be incorporated with other specialty dies such as fluted or sculptured dies to really make your foiling work stand out and add another dimension. The designs can be subtle and slight or can be bold to highlight and focus certain areas.
Another fantastic benefit of these types of dies is they offer an excellent, cost effective alternative to expensive decorative foils and the chance to add a bespoke finish to the foiled area. This could be a company logo or a security feature to protect the product. Standard metallic hot stamping foils can be used as the effects are made through the textures on the dies.
How are they made?
Textured and Micro Embossing dies are mostly made from copper material to be able to hold the tiny level of detail required. Copper dies are hard wearing and so ensures the longevity of the die. These dies are then double etched – first to create to die pattern as normal and then etched again to incorporate the desired texture onto the surface of the die. As mentioned above some of these affects can be incorporated with brass fluted or sculptured dies to add a combination of effects into foiled areas. These types of dies are not supplied with a counterforce as the texture/emboss is so fine it is not required.
